Volunteers play a critical role in the day-to-day operations of Franciscan Outreach. We rely on compassionate individuals and groups who generously donate their time so we’re able to provide critical support to men and women who are marginalized and homeless. Throughout the year, hundreds of people volunteer in a number of ways, including serving meals to guests, sorting and organizing donations, leading group activities and providing administrative support. The work volunteers do each day help us so we can provide more expansive support than our budget would otherwise allow.
Volunteering is essential to the work of Franciscan Outreach.
Every day, we rely on the support from dedicated volunteers through the following two programs:
Community Volunteer Program
A compassionate community of local volunteers dedicate their time and talents to Franciscan Outreach. Hundreds of individuals volunteer alone or in groups and make an impact in the lives of our neighbors in need. We’re always in need of volunteers who are looking to make a difference.
Full-Time Volunteer Program
Through the Full-Time Volunteer Program, 8-12 young adults from around the world come to Chicago for a year-long experience in communal living and dedicated service. These “full-time” volunteers provide 40 hours of service each week and in exchange for their service, they receive room and board, health insurance, and a modest stipend.
